What really happened to Tiger Woods?

Tiger Woods the alleged affair, the accident, and the aftermath.

What do we know?

At the time of this writing, here is what little we know with absolute certainty:

Tiger Woods crashed his car at 2:30AM just outside his house on Novemeber 27. Tiger was taken to the hospital for undisclosed injuries and released shortly after. In the 911 transcript the caller says he was laying on the ground outside the vehicle. On November 29, Tiger released a statement on his website saying the accident was his fault but the details are a private matter. His alleged mistress, Rachel Uchitel, has vehemently denied the affair to the AP.

These are the facts of the case. And they are undisputed. They are also few in number.

What do we think?

Well, this is where things get interesting and because the notoriously private Tiger Woods seems intent on just letting this run its course without definite answers, lots of questions will be the subject of rampant speculation.

Where was Tiger going at 2:30AM?

Likely escaping from his wife, who reportedly confronted him over the Rachel Uchitel affair. There were reports that both Woods and his Supermodel wife, Elin Nordegren, told police they were arguing just before the crash.

Why did he crash?

It was a single car accident, so likely something caused him to lose focus/cut the wheel and swerve off the road, over a fire hydrant and into a tree. If he had simply been trying to avoid a squirrel caught in his headlights, I think we would have heard that.

I`m going with he was distracted by his wife chasing after his car that caused him to crash.

What injuries did he sustain?

Big question marks. Initially it was reported he was in serious condition. Turns out, thankfully, that was never the case but the rest is very murky.

Most reports say he had facial lacerations. Some say they were not typical injuries from a crash and most likely scratches from his wife and there was no blood found in the vehicle. If true, that would certainly indicate his cuts existed before he crashed.

Also, every report seems to agree the airbags didn't deploy which means he wasn't going fast. Sure airbags, like Sergio in major tournaments, fail too, but also if he was going fast, his wife wouldn't have caught him. My guess is he was going very slowly so injuries from hitting a fire hydrant in a Cadillac Escalade would be minimal. In fact, reports from the police say the car took only perhaps as little as $5K in damages. That`s a scratched fender and grill in a $70K car. That`s nothing. So many people drive SUVs because they are tanks and safe. I don't think he was hurt in the slightest from crash.

How did Tiger end up on the ground?

I find this to be the most interesting part. No one is reporting the car was wrecked or burning or anything like that, so why get out and on to the ground if you don't have the strength to stand?

I suppose he could have gotten out in a daze and then collasped. If his wife really did pull him from the car while unconscious, that`s another possibilty.

Some reports have Tiger unconscious on the neighbor`s lawn for six minutes plus. I don't think the damage indicates a crash so hard he would fall out of the vehicle barely conscious and then pass out for six minutes. Seems implausible.

Unforunately, it`s not absurd to think Elin hit Tiger with the club and that`s what knocked him unconscious. If she was mad enough to scratch him. And if she was mad enough to smash a window. Without thinking clearly, in a fit of rage, she could have teed off on his head. That would be enough to keep him down for six minutes.

Why won't Tiger talk to the police?

Because under the fifth amendment he doesn't have to and he is famously private. However, the laws don't favor silence in cases of domestic abuse. Multiple reports say both Woods and his wife confirmed to police they were arguing just before the accident. Because of the fear and intimdation issues associated with testifying on domestic violence, police can often get warrants to obtain answers. Some reports say the police are currently doing just that since Tiger has refused three meetings with state police.

If there was violent physical contact before,during, or after the accident there certainly could charges filed against Tiger, his wife, or both. Allegedly, of course.

Sheesh. So what`s the most ALLEGEDLY plausible scenario?

The affair is true. Elin confronted Tiger about the affair and things got physical. She scratched his face. He decided to get out of there. He ran to his car and as he pulled out of the driveway, Elin smashed one of the two rear passenger windows with a golf club. In the WTF moment when the window broke, Tiger swerved off the road and crashed. He got out and his wife hit him with the club and he went down on the neighbor`s lawn.

NOTE: That is not fact and pure speculation. But until Tiger says what really happened it`s all we`ve got.
