An open letter to Layla Kiffin

What is your husband thinking? You presumably share a bed with him - unless you have resorted to sleeping in the U-Haul truck since you relocate so often.

Just in case you have blocked it out, in the last three calendar years (since 01/13/2007), Lane has had 4 different jobs. He was offensive coordinator @ USC, then head coach @ OAK, Tennesse and now USC. In his plentiful wake, he has left nothing but chaos and losses. And chaos really is the key word here, Mrs. Kiffin.

I would argue Pete Carroll had the best job in all of sports. He is a laid-back California guy in town that says it is sports crazy, but its not. (The fact that no one in L.A. is from L.A. contributes largely to that.) For all intents and purposes, the USC Trojans are the pro football team in L.A. Now the extent of which that statement is merely hyperbole is where the true problem lies.

Did you ask your husband this question: "Why do you think Pete left in such a hurry?" If not, or in case you got something along the lines of "I am not here to talk about the past.", let me shed some light.

Did your husband tell you that Pete Carroll recently got hit with the court order pimp stick not once, but TWICE? Once in the Reggie Bush illegal gift case (What? Like a $750K house for his parents is a big deal?) and a second time in the newer former assistant Dave Watson illegal painkiller prescription case (He says USC team doctors gave him illegal prescriptions. Thats not just an NCAA violation. It is a crime.) Now Lane won't have to go to court; neither happened on his watch. But the NCAA punishes the school and not the coach. So Lane will get punished for Pete`s mess. And there will be punishment. The only questions are how much and how soon?

So while I applaud this move because it increases the likehood of us seeing candid pics of you in a bikini by several orders of magnitude, you might want to keep tabs on U-Haul availability; its a bad career move for Lane and there is a very good chance you will be moving again soon.
